Report No. 5 - Family Heritage
Rootwood Report No. 5 - Family Heritage
There's a lot to celebrate this week. Of course HOW we celebrate is looking a little different these days, but WHY we celebrate is the same as it's always been. This week is bookended by Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day, and Addie is sharing a bit of her family heritage (and semi-secret cabbage salsa recipe).
________
When they're not with Manson students, sisters Addie and Alicia spend part of their summers working in the taproom. They were some of the first Rootwood employees and how natural since the Gragedas have been a part of our family for generations! Their close knit family is so special. Our valley is a better place because of their dedication and support, enriching the lives of others. Our bellies are also enriched with their culinary expertise. We feel 100% confident in saying Mama Lupe’s tortillas are the best in the world!
_________
You may remember our 3rd taproom anniversary, “Three for THRIVE” - a fundraiser for THRIVE CHELAN VALLEY when we celebrated with cider and sold cabbage salsa to benefit THRIVE. Of course Addie and Alicia helped make that happen, and we found that the slightly spicy cabbage salsa pairs perfectly with cider. The full recipe is found below.
________
This post is part of our Rootwood Report series. Since we aren’t able to serve you in the taproom with the same face-to-face interactions, we’ve come up with a new way to feature cider-centric experiences, pairing suggestions, tasting notes, and recipes from our staff, family, and friends.
